Leake Academy extended the longest winning streak in MAIS AA District 2 this week by beating Canton Academy, 41-12. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Rebels.
Manchester Academy took down Porter's Chapel Academy 45-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Oak Hill Academy's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Riley Pierce threw for 70 and one touchdown and Bradley Allen had 57 yards receiving. On the ground Drake Riley chipped in 98 yards. Jeb Stevens helped Oak Hill Academy's passing attack out by catching one ball for 10 yards.
Zach Warren made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Panthers fell to Leake Academy. The senior grabbed one interception and forced one fumble.
Thanks to the talents of Tanner Crosby and Chauncey Goodman Canton Academy has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Crosby leads the league in passing with 522 yards, while Goodman has rushed for 759 yards this season. Winston Academy's Orien Dailey leads the league in receiving yards with 179 on 12 catches.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Phil Hannon's team takes on the Mavericks. The Panthers are currently in second, while Manchester Academy is in fourth.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Canton Academy takes on the Mavericks. The Panthers have allowed 197 points this season, while Manchester Academy has given up 197. Canton Academy allowed 41 points last week as it lost to the Rebels.
Leake Academy made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,565 from 7,513. The improvement was the result of 41-12 victory over the Panthers last week.
