The Matanzas Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 78-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of Father Lopez. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Saturday (58), Matanzas still had to take the loss.
Matanzas' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Henry Robinson Jr. , who dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds, and Tariq Shakir who scored 21 points along with seven assists. Robinson Jr. scored a full 41.2% of Matanzas' points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Rya'sir Jefferson , who scored eight points along with six assists.
Matanzas' loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Father Lopez, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Matanzas will head out on the road to face off against St. Augustine at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Father Lopez will be home for the holidays to greet Bishop Moore at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
