The St. James Saints's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight defeat. They were dealt a 51-18 loss at the hands of Hedgesville. St. James was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-6.
Gracie Brown continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hedgesville, almost dropping a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. Brown hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Sinclair, who scored eight points along with six assists and three steals.
St. James has not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Hedgesville, their win ended a 11-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 6-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. James will challenge Governor Thomas Johnson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hedgesville, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Martinsburg at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th. Martinsburg will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Hedgesville surely won't give up without a fight.
