The Hagerstown Tigers will take on the Northeastern Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Northeastern's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Hagerstown hadn't allowed a single run the last four times they've hit the field. The Tigers never let Winchester Community get on the board and left with a 19-0 win on Thursday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Payton Cones and Sydney Dobbs were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Cones tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Dobbs tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances. At bat, Cones went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Dobbs went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Dobbs a new career-high.
In other batting news, Hagerstown got a massive performance out of Coley Parrish, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Parrish has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Addysyn Miller, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
Hagerstown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Northeastern walked away with it. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Patriots on Monday. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by exactly 11 runs.
Jayden Hildebrand was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Macey Oler, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Northeastern's win bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Hagerstown, their victory bumped their record up to 17-2.
Hagerstown came out on top in a nail-biter against Northeastern when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 1-0. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
