Softball Recap: Archbishop Wood Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Archbishop Wood barely beat Archbishop Carroll the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vikings' pitcher stepped up to hand the Patriots an 11-0 shutout on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Lilliana Walters, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Katherine Freligh was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Archbishop Wood's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Archbishop Carroll, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Archbishop Wood will take on William Tennent at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Archbishop Carroll, they will challenge Nazareth Academy at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
