If the Hillcrest Panthers were feeling good off their 31-11 takedown of the Adamson Leopards last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Hillcrest fell just short of Spruce by a score of 35-32. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Thursday (31), Hillcrest still had to take the loss.
Hillcrest's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jacoby Ogbonna, who picked up 211 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and Asher Randall who threw for 265 yards and three touchdowns. Ogbonna hasn't dropped below two receiving touchdowns for three straight games.
Spruce's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaylon Warren led the charge by rushing for 100 yards and two touchdowns. Warren has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last three times he's played. Vinyuan Cohen did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 112 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Hillcrest's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Spruce, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.
Hillcrest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Spruce also has no future games currently scheduled.
