The Maryvale Panthers's five-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They strolled past Kirtland Central with points to spare, taking the game 65-48. The victory was all the more spectacular given Maryvale's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 220th in Arizona, while Kirtland Central is ranked 74th in New Mexico).
Maryvale was led to victory by Devin Murphy and Adrian Stubbs. Murphy dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds, while Stubbs dropped a triple-double on 13 points, 13 assists, and ten steals. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Avy Luna mena, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Maryvale's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Kirtland Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5.
Maryvale is on the road again on Friday and play against Canon City at 5:30 p.m. on December 15th. Kirtland Central won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Window Rock at 3:00 p.m. on December 15th. Window Rock is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
