The South Harrison Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. South Harrison is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
South Harrison's 23-3 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell to Wirt County 52-47.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 54-50 to Trinity Christian. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Notre Dame came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Trinity Christian is ranked 224th).
South Harrison's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Notre Dame, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
South Harrison took a serious blow against Notre Dame in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 68-41. Can South Harrison avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
