Sacred Heart is 7-0 against Council Grove since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Sacred Heart Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Council Grove Braves at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Sacred Heart is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Council Grove in Kansas (Sacred Heart is ranked 17th, while Council Grove is ranked 173rd).
Last Saturday, Sacred Heart didn't have too much trouble with Concordia at home as they won 55-39. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Sacred Heart.
Meanwhile, Council Grove pushed their score all the way to 55 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Halstead 61-55.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Finn Gant, who scored eight points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolby Rose, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Sacred Heart pushed their record up to 14-2 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Council Grove, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Everything came up roses for Sacred Heart against Council Grove in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 71-44 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sacred Heart since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
