The Baker Gators and the Central Jaguars squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but sadly the Baker Gators had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 33-31. Baker has not had much luck with Central recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Central was led to victory by Lakin Mathews and Lily Mathews. Mathews scored 13 points along with five steals, while Mathews scored 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mathews has scored at least a third of Central's points.
Baker's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season.
Baker does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Central, they will head out on the road to square off against Paxton at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Paxton will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Central surely won't give up without a fight.
