Baseball Recap: Lena-Winslow Snags Ninth Victory in Last 12 Games

Lena-Winslow was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against West Carroll on Friday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Thunder. Considering the Panthers have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Luke Madigan was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Cox, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Lena-Winslow always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Carroll only posted an OBP of .286.

Lena-Winslow is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for West Carroll, they are on a 16-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lena-Winslow will welcome Durand/Pecatonica at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rivermen have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.06 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for West Carroll, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on East Dubuque at 4:30 p.m. on the 12th.
