It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the New Prairie Cougars had no problem doing just that on Friday. They strolled past the Jimmies with points to spare, taking the game 43-29. Given New Prairie's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while Jimtown is ranked 230th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
New Prairie got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Morgan White out in front who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. White hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Jayden Flagg was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
New Prairie is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for Jimtown, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season.
New Prairie won't have much time to rest: their next game is against South Bend Clay at 6:30 p.m. on February 3rd. South Bend Clay is coming into the match with nine straight victories on the road, meaning New Prairie will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. Jimtown does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
