McQueen is 1-9 against Reno since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The McQueen Lancers will look to defend their home court against the Reno Huskies at 7:00 p.m. McQueen is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
Last Friday, McQueen was the victim of a tough 79-53 loss at the hands of Damonte Ranch. While losing is never fun, McQueen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while Damonte Ranch is ranked seventh).
Despite the defeat, McQueen saw an underclassman step up: Kade Snyder dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 47.2% of McQueen's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Torrie Simmons, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Reno beat Bishop Manogue 52-45 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Reno.
Harvey Smerdon was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points. Jackson Higgins was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
McQueen has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Reno, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: McQueen have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 36.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Reno struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
McQueen came up short against Reno in their previous meeting back in January, falling 54-41. Will McQueen have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
