The Muncie Central Bearcats and the Anderson Indians will face off at 2:30 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Muncie Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 134th, while Anderson is ranked 24th).
On Friday, it was a hard-fought contest, but Muncie Central had to settle for a 55-52 loss against Harrison.
Despite their defeat, Muncie Central saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Xaviya Cook, who scored 19 points along with two steals, was perhaps the best of all. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cook has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lj Strange, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Anderson can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Logansport 72-29 at home. While fans of Anderson might be used to big wins, the 43-point margin marked the team's biggest win yet this season.
It was another big night for Damien King, who scored 18 points along with five assists and two steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last 15 times he's played. Louis Jackson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Muncie Central has not been sharp recently as the team has lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Anderson, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-4.
Muncie Central ended up a good deal behind Anderson when the teams last played back in February of 2023, losing 59-44. Thankfully for Muncie Central, Ahmere Carson (who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and six assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
