4A Region II District 15 recap Oct. 9, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Red Oak, who took down 259th ranked Mansfield Legacy, 49-27. Austin VanHove threw for 168 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
The Hawks' Jeremiah Gaines rumbled for the longest rushing play in 4A Region II District 15 this season in his game against the Broncos last week. Gaines scampered for 76 yards on the play and finished with 105 on the day as his team defeated Mansfield Legacy.
Mansfield Summit's dynamic duo of Antonio Bennett and Patrick Tshituka proved tough for Seguin to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Bennett threw for 171 yards and three touchdowns and Tshituka had 160 yards receiving.
Cameron Bausley was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 139 yards on 19 carries as Mike Shields' team beat the Cougars.
6-foot-2 quarterback Brady Burke of the Broncos is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1070. He has also thrown 10 touchdowns. On the ground, the Hawks' Bausley has rushed for 570 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Tshituka. The Mansfield Summit star has 23 catches for 431 yards.
A big matchup in 4A Region II District 15 this week will be when Red Oak takes on Ennis. At the moment, the Hawks are in fourth, while the Lions are in second.
Ennis extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Lake Ridge, 74-0. The win marks sixth in a row for the Jack Alvarez's team.
