University City (San Diego, Calif.) saw its 18-point lead shrink to 10, but hung on to beat
Coronado (Calif.) 28-18 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Kyle LeBlanc in the first quarter, the Centurions led 18-6 at the half.
University City saw its 12-point halftime lead decrease to nine entering the fourth.
A 43-0 University City victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The victory was a step in the right direction for the San Diego school, which was coming off a 63-6 defeat at the hands of La Jolla in its previous game. The victory ended University City's two-game losing streak.
