Kenton has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Ridgemont Golden Gophers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Kenton is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Golden Gophers in Ohio (the Wildcats are ranked 374th, while the Golden Gophers are ranked 772nd).
Kenton pushed their score all the way to 56 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 60-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Memorial.
Meanwhile, Ridgemont escaped with a win on Thursday against the Tigers by the margin of a single free throw, 46-45.
Ridgemont's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kylie Shreve, who scored 16 points along with four steals. Shreve has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ruth Eckstein, who scored five points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Kenton's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Ridgemont, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-14.
Everything came up roses for Kenton against the Golden Gophers in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 70-19 victory. With Kenton ahead 52-12 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
