The Calvary Chapel Eagles only won by two when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 29-point they dealt the Saddleback Roadrunners on Wednesday. Calvary Chapel simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Roadrunners 72-43 at home. Given Calvary Chapel's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 443rd, while the Roadrunners are ranked 1165th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the defeat, Saddleback saw an underclassman step up: Christopher Trotter scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. That was a full 51.2% of Saddleback's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Calvary Chapel pushed their record up to 16-11 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.4 points per game. As for Saddleback, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-21.
Calvary Chapel does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Saddleback also has no future games currently scheduled.
