MaxPreps continues to add to its list of national high school sports record books, adding 8-man football to go along with its extensive compilation of 11-man football records.
The first installment, released today, includes single-season records for passing, receiving, rushing and scoring. Future updates will include career and single-game records along with coaching, defensive and special teams categories.
While 8-man football can be found throughout the country, it is predominantly found in the Midwest, Pacific Coast and Southeast states with some teams also found in New York.
8-MAN RECORDS: Passing | Rushing | Receiving | Scoring
Missouri quarterbacks and receivers heavily populate the passing and receiving record books. Steven Willhite of
Pattonsburg (Mo.),
Jordan Haley from
Braymer (Mo.) and Koby Reynolds of
North Nodaway (Hopkins, Mo.) appear multiple times in the yardage, touchdown, completions and attempts lists, but the all-time leader in those categories is Evan Ashlock of
Sacred Heart of Jesus (Jackson, Tenn.).

Ashlock led his team to the national 8-man Christian championships in 2016 with a 16-0 record. Along the way he threw for 6,885 yards, which is over 1,400 yards higher than the No. 2 quarterback on the list.
Ashlock also broke records for completions (503) and attempts (762) in a season, easily outdistancing the No. 2 quarterback in those categories as well.
Haley, however, has two of the top three touchdown totals. He threw for a national record 97 touchdowns in 2023 and posted 80 touchdown passes this year.
In the rushing categories,
Pembroke (Corfu, N.Y.) running backs hold the top two yardage totals. Tyler Totten rushed for a national record 4,235 yards last year while
Caleb Felski gained 3,732 yards this year.
Grant Kinzer of
Colton (Wash.) holds two of the top three receiving records. He had 2,564 receiving yards in 2016 and also notched 40 touchdown receptions. Patrick Cowley of Pattonsburg holds the receptions record with 153.
Totten also stands at No. 1 for total touchdowns in a season. He is tied with Lane Spieker of
CAM (Anita, Iowa) with 74 each. Spieker also holds the record for most points in a season with 568.
