After a string of three wins, Summit's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Page Patriots. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.
Summit actually scored more points across those four sets (93-91), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-22, 16-25, 25-23.
Maggie Kalisz paced Summit's offense, picking up 21 kills. Kalisz got some help from Amanda Shanahan and her 38 assists. Kalisz was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.
Among those leading the charge was Hannah Rider, who had 20 digs and five assists. That's the most digs she has posted since back in September of 2024. Peyton Anway also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Summit's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Page, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Summit will take on rival Nolensville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Page is set to challenge their familiar foe Franklin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
