Dixie Heights scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Simon Kenton, 21-15. At the time, the Pioneers were ranked 13th in the state, while the Colonels were 110th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Simon Kenton, who took down 13th ranked Simon Kenton, 21-15.
Jeff Marksberry's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Brenan Kuntz threw for 154 and one touchdown and Grant Wassom had 99 yards receiving. On the ground Andrew Sampson chipped in 80 yards. Jacob Huesman helped Simon Kenton's passing attack out by catching three balls for 51 yards.
Simon Kenton's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Pioneers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Kuntz has thrown for 1728 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, while Wassom has 37 catches for 593 yards. Sampson leads the league in rushing with 663 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Campbell County takes on Boone County. The Camels are currently in second, while the Rebels are in fifth.
Dixie Heights moved up to 84 from 110 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Tom Spritzky's team climbed the ranks as a result of topping the Pioneers 21-15.
