The Waterbury Career Academy Spartans will head out on the road to take on the Naugatuck Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Waterbury Career Academy is looking to tack on another W to their 12-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Waterbury Career Academy faced Crosby in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Waterbury Career Academy snuck past Crosby with a 66-62 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Meanwhile, Naugatuck was the victim of a rough 71-48 loss at the hands of Holy Cross on Friday. While losing is never fun, Naugatuck can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Holy Cross is ranked 20th).
Waterbury Career Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Naugatuck, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
Everything came up roses for Waterbury Career Academy against Naugatuck in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 80-49 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Waterbury Career Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
