The Kutztown Cougars lost against the Antietam Mountaineers back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Kutztown took a 49-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Antietam. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Kutztown in their matchups with Antietam: they've now lost three in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Antietam to victory, but perhaps none more so than AJ Schiefly, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Shawn Raffety, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Kutztown has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Antietam, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kutztown will take on Schuylkill Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Schuylkill Valley presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Kutztown in Pennsylvania (Schuylkill Valley is ranked 293rd, while Kutztown is ranked 621st). As for Antietam, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Tulpehocken at 7:30 p.m. Tulpehocken has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5.
