Godley is 10-0 against Alvarado since January of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Godley Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Alvarado Indians at 6:15 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Godley is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Lake Country Christian just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 60-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Wildcats came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while the Eagles are ranked 287th).

Meanwhile, Alvarado was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 64-43 to Hillsboro.

Godley will have to keep a close watch on Carleigh Ray and Mckayla Norris, a pair of players who had a big impact on Alvarado's prior game. Ray went 6 of 8 en route to 15 points and five boards, while Norris went 5 for 11 on her way to 16 points and six rebounds. The contest was Norris' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makynna Baldwin, who posted nine points and three steals.

Godley's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-5. As for Alvarado, their loss dropped their record down to 11-16.

Everything came up roses for Godley against Alvarado when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 56-13 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Godley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
