The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Augusta Prep Day has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while Edmund Burke Academy will arrive with eight straight wins.
Last Friday, Augusta Prep Day was beaten by Briarwood Academy 41-6.
Meanwhile, Edmund Burke Academy's game on Friday was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They snuck past Gatewood with a 20-14 victory.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Edmund Burke Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Grant Mobley, who rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. Edmund Burke Academy also got a significant boost from Ayden Phillips, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 100 yards.
Augusta Prep Day's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. As for Edmund Burke Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Augusta Prep Day has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 149.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Edmund Burke Academy struggles in that department as they've been even better at 197.1 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Augusta Prep Day beat Edmund Burke Academy 27-20 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Augusta Prep Day since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
