The Greater Latrobe Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the West Allegheny Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Allegheny took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Greater Latrobe, who comes in off a win.
Greater Latrobe can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 42-7 victory over Butler. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 21-0.
Among those leading the charge was John Wetzel, who rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries. Wetzel really tore up the turf during one magnificent 71-yard run. Alex Tatsch also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Greater Latrobe's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Anthony Scarton and Jack Drnjevich who racked up four sacks between them.
Meanwhile, West Allegheny took a serious blow against Montour on Friday, falling 49-17. While losing is never fun, West Allegheny can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Montour is ranked 28th).
Despite the loss, West Allegheny got a solid performance out of Brock Cornell, who rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry.
Greater Latrobe is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for West Allegheny, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-4.
