Streamwood is 0-10 against South Elgin since April of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Sabres will look to defend their home field against the Storm at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Streamwood headed into their last matchup having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but Aurora East let them put that streak behind them. The Sabres blew past the Tomcats 20-14 on Monday. The Sabres' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Streamwood got a massive performance out of Hailey Dworak, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Dworak also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Aidee Marin was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for South Elgin, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Larkin a 10-0 shutout on Monday. Considering the Storm have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Anna Kiel made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, South Elgin let Chloe Ricard and Amber Gnutek run wild. Ricard went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double, while Gnutek went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Gnutek a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Tinerella, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
South Elgin's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Streamwood, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-8.
Streamwood's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Sabres have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for South Elgin, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Streamwood continue to outrun the ball?
