The D DME Academy are ranked highly in their home state, and on Monday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the Legacy Early College Lions. D was beaten by Legacy Early College 72-33. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points D has scored all season.
Legacy Early College got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mela Hollaway out in front who scored 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Janyia Williams, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.
D's defeat dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Legacy Early College, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. D will take on Montverde Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Florida (D is ranked sixth, while Montverde Academy is ranked second). As for Legacy Early College, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Oak City Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
