Cooper Floyd made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Xavier Carvelli, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Doddridge County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Golden Bears.
Hunter Hayhurst spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Caleb Hall, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Player #1 also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Doddridge County's victory bumped their record up to 17-4. As for Robert C. Byrd, their loss dropped their record down to 17-7.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Robert C. Byrd hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .362. However, it's not like Doddridge County struggles in that department as they've averaged .335. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
