Softball Game Preview: Perry Pumas vs. Chandler Wolves

For the second straight game, Perry will face off against Chandler. The Pumas will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Wolves at 3:45 p.m. Perry is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Perry's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Chandler as they made off with a 17-0 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Pumas needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Brynlee Brassfield was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Braylee Harder was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ellie Leicht, who went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Perry was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .553. They are 8-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Perry has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Chandler, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-19.

Chandler's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Perry has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Chandler, though, as they've been averaging only 3 strikeouts. Will Perry keep running through batters, or will the Wolves buck the trend?
