Basketball Recap: Portland Adventist Academy Takes a Loss

Portland Adventist Academy fought the good fight in their overtime match against Valley Catholic on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 72-65 to the Valley Catholic Valiants. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Valiants: they've now lost seven in a row.

Despite the loss, Portland Adventist Academy still got an impressive performance from Dane Petersen, who went 7 for 16 en route to 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Petersen is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Trygg Patchin, who posted 11 points and five boards.

Portland Adventist Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Valley Catholic, they pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home.

Portland Adventist Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 57-49 loss against Catlin Gabel on the 21st. Valley Catholic has also already played their next contest, a 61-52 defeat against De La Salle North Catholic on the 23rd.
