The Ocracoke Dolphins had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on Washington Montessori with a sharp 35-14 victory on Thursday. Ocracoke's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Ocracoke found their leader in underclassman Jami Martinez, who scored 17 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Martinez has scored at least a third of Ocracoke's points. Heidy Lora was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Ocracoke's win ended a eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-14. As for Washington Montessori, they dropped their record down to 0-10 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Ocracoke won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Bear Grass Charter at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Bear Grass Charter will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Ocracoke surely won't give up without a fight. Washington Montessori does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
