It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Wyoming Cowboys had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top against Taft by a score of 35-26. The final score was a far cry from the score of their previous head-to-head, which saw the teams combine for seven points.
Wyoming's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Joel Hancock, who rushed for 185 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 81 receiving yards. Hancock has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last six times he's played. Quaid Hauer also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Wyoming pushed their record up to 11-1 with that victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.3 points per game. As for Taft, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-3.
Wyoming will take on Shawnee at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Shawnee is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games. Taft does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
