The Banquete Bulldogs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They walked away with a 56-45 victory over Hebbronville. The victory was some much needed relief for Banquete as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Banquete got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Logan Blanchard out in front who scored nine points along with four steals. Damien Jenkins was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Hebbronville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Oscar Carrillo. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Carrillo has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Joseph Benavides, who scored four points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Banquete's victory ended a 20-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-21. As for Hebbronville, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-21.
Banquete will take on Falfurrias at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Falfurrias presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Banquete in Texas (Falfurrias is ranked 802nd, while Banquete is ranked 1652nd). As for Hebbronville, they will head out on the road to face off against San Diego at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Hebbronville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Friday.
