The Livingston Wolves will face off against the Lathrop Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Livingston is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
Livingston is headed into the match having just posted their closest win since May 8, 2024 on Saturday. They skirted past Hilmar 5-3.
Annalee Aguilar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.
At the plate, Livingston saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Costa, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Alexis Ross was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Livingston hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Lathrop got themselves on the board against Johansen on Friday, but Johansen never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Vikings. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won four contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Maci De Costa was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. De Costa was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Lathrop got a massive performance out of Tianna Gonzalez, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. What's more, Gonzalez posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aubree Martinez, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Lathrop has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. Livingston's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Livingston hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .386. However, it's not like Lathrop struggles in that department as they've averaged .317. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Livingston took their victory against Lathrop in their previous matchup back in March of 2018 by a conclusive 22-0. Does Livingston have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lathrop turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
