Basketball Recap: Ocean Springs Sets Scoring Season-High Against St. Patrick

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ocean Springs). They strolled past the St. Patrick Fighting Irish with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 58-40. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Greyhounds considering their 18-point performance the game before.

Leading Ocean Springs to victory were Starr Jackson and Layla Daley. Jackson shot 55% from the field en route to 15 points along with five rebounds and five steals, while Daley went 5-for-10 on her way to 12 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Nyla Newsome, who posted 12 points.

Ocean Springs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Ocean Springs pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for St. Patrick, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-5 record.

Looking ahead, Ocean Springs will face off against Daphne at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. The Greyhounds' defense better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 52.2 points per game this season. As for St. Patrick, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Bryant at 5:30 p.m. on December 2.
