Bridgeport Central is on a five-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), Harding a six-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Bridgeport Central Hilltoppers will take on the Harding Presidents at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Bridgeport Central, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 63-46 loss to Stamford. While losing is never fun, Bridgeport Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while Stamford is ranked 13th).
Meanwhile, Harding pushed their score all the way to 64 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Immaculate by a score of 66-64. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Wednesday (59), Harding still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Harding got a solid performance out of Craig Chandler, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. Jamaar Wright Jr. was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Harding were working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Bridgeport Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Harding, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Bridgeport Central didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Harding in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 52-48 win. Does Bridgeport Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Harding turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
