The Roncalli Royals are taking a road trip to take on the Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Roncalli will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Roncalli came out on top against Decatur Central on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Royals took their contest against the Hawks 5-2.

Jaiden Kuria spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Gio Ardizone and Drew Nelson did most of the damage at the plate: Ardizone went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run, while Nelson went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Ardizone has posted since back in April. Maddux Hayworth was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Lafayette Central Catholic typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Guerin Catholic proved too difficult a challenge. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Knights. The victory continues a trend for the Golden Eagles in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won three in a row.
Guerin Catholic also got a great performance from Finn Holden as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Holden also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Golden Eagles are 6-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-8 otherwise.
At the plate, Guerin Catholic's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tate Troxell, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another was Ian Taylor, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.
The victory got Guerin Catholic back to even at 10-10. As for Roncalli, their record now sits at 17-3.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Roncalli has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .488. However, it's not like Guerin Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .457. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Roncalli came out on top in a nail-biter against Guerin Catholic in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Royals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
