The Skyline Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 58-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Alta. If Skyline was looking for revenge after losing 44-39 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
When it comes to explaining why Skyline lost, one person who can't be blamed is Leelu Bare. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Mia Johnson, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Alta to victory, but perhaps none more so than Leafa Niumeitolu, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Niumeitolu hasn't dropped below 15 points for eight straight games. Aolele Liavaa was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Skyline's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Alta, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Skyline will take on the Leopards at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Utah (East is ranked 89th, while the Eagles are ranked 78th). As for Alta, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Highland is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
