The Lake Lure Classical Academy Raptors won the last time they faced the Pinnacle Classical Academy Eagles, and things went their way on Friday too. Lake Lure Classical Academy strolled past Pinnacle Classical Academy with points to spare, taking the game 60-41. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Lake Lure Classical Academy.
Da'Zirus Watkins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with seven steals and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Andre Staley was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Pinnacle Classical Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Cody Humphries, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds, and Braylon Gentry who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Humphries is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played.
Even though they lost, Pinnacle Classical Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Lure Classical Academy only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Lake Lure Classical Academy's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Pinnacle Classical Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Lure Classical Academy will face off against Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Long Shoals Wesleyan Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Pinnacle Classical Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Thomas Jefferson at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Thomas Jefferson will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
