The Fountain Central Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 73-61 to Clinton Prairie. While losing is never fun, Fountain Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while Clinton Prairie is ranked 100th).
Isaac Gayler and Eli Foxworthy certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Gayler scored 21 points along with six rebounds, while Foxworthy scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Foxworthy has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Acton, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Fountain Central has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Clinton Prairie, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fountain Central will square off against Faith Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Clinton Prairie, they will head out on the road to challenge Eastern at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastern is on a four-game streak of home wins, Clinton Prairie a eight-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
