The Cottage Cougars are on the road again on Wednesday and plays the Howard Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on February 14th. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Cottage: 29.1, Howard: 23.9) so any points scored will be well earned.
On Monday, Cottage earned a 42-31 victory over Mill Springs Academy.
Finley Love and Alyssa Briggs were among the main playmakers for Cottage as the former dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds and the latter almost dropped a triple-double on 15 points, nine rebounds, and 12 steals. Briggs has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Gabby Pressnall, who scored three points along with 12 steals.
Meanwhile, Howard scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They came out on top against Cottage by a score of 46-35. The victory was nothing new for Howard as they're now sitting on four straight.
Ava Beck had a dynamite game for Howard, scoring 28 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Beck has scored at least a third of Howard's points.
Cottage has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. As for Howard, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.
Wednesday's match is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Cottage have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 34.7 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Howard, though, as they've been averaging only 0.4 rebounds per game. Given Cottage's sizable advantage in that area, Howard will need to find a way to close that gap.
