Softball Recap: Broughton Extends Winning Streak to Three

Broughton won the last time they faced Sanderson and things went their way on Thursday too. The Capitals blew past the Spartans 19-6. The result was nothing new for the Capitals, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Broughton got a massive performance out of Harper Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Avery Troxell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Broughton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory (which was Broughton's third in a row) raised their record to 11-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Sanderson, they dropped their record down to 0-15 with the loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

As of now, neither Broughton nor the Spartans have any future games scheduled.
