AAA District 16 recap Oct. 3, 2012
White Station was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in AAA District 16. The Spartans vanquished Melrose 56-13 earlier in the week.
Whitehaven extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Hamilton, 41-6. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Memphis East's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Mustangs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Eddie Harper has thrown for 358 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Marcus Robinson has 10 catches for 194 yards. Antonio Clifton leads the league in rushing with 766 yards.
Two of the top units in AAA District 16 will face off this week when Memphis East takes on the Golden Wildcats. The Mustangs' offense has recorded 146 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Melrose has permitted only 256 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Memphis East takes on Eddie Woods's team. Marcus Wimberly's team is in third place, while the Golden Wildcats are in sixth place.
White Station took down Melrose 56-13 last week, the largest margin of any game.
