The Mount Si Wildcats are ranked highly in their home state, and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the Liberty Patriots. Mount Si fell 67-60 to Liberty. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (55), Mount Si still had to take the loss.
Mount Si lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Trevor Hennig, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. The contest was Hennig's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Blake Forrest, who scored 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Leading Liberty to victory were Jaden Riley and Andre Porter. Riley scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and five assists, while Porter shot 4-for-6 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyus Thomas, who scored 12 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Mount Si's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Liberty, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mount Si will take on Redmond at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Redmond will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while Mount Si is ranked 23rd). Liberty and Centennial will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Centennial has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 405 points over their last six contests.
