Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Mountain View

Mountain View waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They rang in the new year with a 59-47 victory over the Logan Grizzlies. For the Bruins, this counts as revenge for the 64-51 win the Grizzlies walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2023.

Mountain View's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Coleman Pearson, who went 6 of 7 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Lewis, who posted 13 points and three steals.

Defeat or not, Logan got some senior leadership from Reed Olsen and Milo Steele. Olsen dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds, while Steele went 5 of 7 on his way to 14 points. Olsen has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Grayden Olsen was another key player, putting up three points and six rebounds.

The win got Mountain View back to even at 7-7. As for Logan, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain View will take on Uintah at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain View knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Uintah likes a good challenge. As for Logan, they will challenge Weber at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Weber knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 games -- so hopefully Logan likes a good challenge.
