Bryan took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Benson. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won four matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Turner Marlowe was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Marlowe was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Bryce Urban was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Jacob Lang was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.
Bryan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Papillion-LaVista entered their tilt with Gretna on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Dragons.
Jordan McDade looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luke Bennett, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Evan Eddie, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Papillion-LaVista pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Bryan, their record now sits at 4-9.
Bryan suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Papillion-LaVista when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
