The Kaneland Knights will head out to square off against the Oswego East Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Kaneland came out on top against Rochelle on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Knights' pitchers stepped up to hand the Hubs a 5-0 shutout. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Hubs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Addison Coulter and Maddie Anderson did most of the damage at the plate: Coulter went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Anderson went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave Anderson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Angelina Campise, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oswego East). Everything went their way against Joliet Central on Monday as they made off with a 22-1 win. Winning may never get old, but the Wolves sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Olivia Owles made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Owles was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Oswego East got a massive performance out of Katie Maday, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Addy Dunn was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Oswego East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.
Oswego East pushed their record up to 13-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Kaneland, their record now sits at 12-10.
Oswego East's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Kaneland has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Oswego East, though, as they've been averaging only 3.7 strikeouts. Will Kaneland keep running through batters, or will the Wolves buck the trend?
Kaneland was able to grind out a solid victory over Oswego East in their previous meeting back in April of 2019, winning 6-2. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
