The Burlington Township Falcons will venture away from home to take on the Medford Tech Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Burlington Township has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Last Friday, Burlington Township earned a 74-61 win over Pennsauken.
Burlington Township's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Baron Davis, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 17 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Irving Singletary was another key player, going 5 of 7 en route to 12 points along with eight boards and four blocks.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Medford Tech beat Bishop Eustace Prep 56-51 on Saturday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Jaguars' disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 295th, while the Crusaders are ranked fifth).
Burlington Township better focus on containing Nesta Rice and Daquan Stratton as the pair were huge in Medford Tech's win. Rice went 7 for 13 on his way to 23 points, while Stratton went 6 of 10 en route to 15 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Stratton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Noah Talbert also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.
Medford Tech smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.
Medford Tech pushed their record up to 3-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Burlington Township, their record now sits at 7-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Burlington Township has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 33 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Medford Tech struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Burlington Township didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Medford Tech in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 56-52 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Rice, who went 8 for 20 on his way to 27 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Burlington Township still be able to contain Rice? There's only one way to find out.
