Murray has been on the road for three straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Murray focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Murray, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 58-41 loss to Riverton. The loss was Murray's first of the season.
Despite their defeat, Murray saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Isaiah Beh, who scored 12 points along with 3 steals, was perhaps the best of all. The game was Beh's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Kade Whitlock was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Juan Diego Catholic ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They managed a 59-54 win over Westlake. With that victory, Juan Diego Catholic brought their scoring average up to 51.5 points per game.
Juan Diego Catholic can attribute much of their success to Stockton Young, who scored 15 points, and Luke Meyer, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Meyer has scored at least 25% of Juan Diego Catholic's points. Another player making a difference was Javier Aguirre, who scored 9 points.
Their wins bumped Murray to 3-1 and Riverton to 2-1.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Murray have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Juan Diego Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.5 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
Murray might still be hurting after the 53-32 loss they got from Juan Diego Catholic when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Murray, Malik Harris (who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
